On Thursday, March 19th, in an effort to further combat COVID-19 and provide added relief for Iowans, Governor Reynolds signed an additional State Public Health Emergency Declaration under her authority.

Key provisions of this declaration affecting counties are:

Property Tax Payments

  • This suspends ONLY the penalty and interest in the collection of property tax until April 16. It does NOT change any of the current dates pertaining to the mailing of the delinquent notices and the conduct of the tax sale. Most importantly, this does NOT suspend in any way the actual payment of property taxes. Property tax and mobile home tax will be assessed 1.5% penalty fee rounded to the nearest dollar on April 17th.

The Treasurer’s Office will continue to update the public as any new information develops. Anyone with questions can call the Treasurer’s Office at 319-267-2703 (Tax) or 319-267-2774 (Auto) or visit www.butlercoiowa.org.
