MARCH 7, 2023 SPECIAL ELECTION IN BUTLER COUNTY

A SPECIAL ELECTION will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 for the voters who reside in the following school districts within Butler County: Aplington-Parkersburg School District, North Butler School District, Hampton-Dumont School District, Nashua-Plainfield School District and Hawkeye Community College School District. On Election Day, Butler County voters will vote at their regular General Election precincts. Voters who are part of a school district and reside in another county will need to vote in their home county.

Beginning February 15th, absentee ballots will be available to vote in person at the Butler County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours through Monday, March 6th. See Deadline information below for absentee ballots to be mailed. Curbside voting during the absentee voting period will also be available. Such voters are encouraged to call ahead to make arrangements.

Polling Sites for Aplington-Parkersburg, North Butler, Hampton-Dumont, Nashua Plainfield and Hawkeye Community College Voters in Butler County will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. as follows: (Please read carefully to determine your correct voting location.) Voters residing outside Butler County should contact their respective county Auditor’s Office with polling place questions.

Pre-registered voters must be registered to vote 15 days or more before the election to appear on the voter register on Election Day and will be required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered, such as voters registering to vote on election day and voters changing precincts, must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by noon on Monday, March 13th. Deadlines and additional Auditor’s Office hours for this election:

February 15th: First day to vote absentee in-person at the Auditor’s Office

February 20th: Pre-registration deadline and last day for Auditor’s Office to receive requests to mail an Absentee Ballot (Auditor’s Office is open until 5:00 p.m.)

March 6th: Last day to vote absentee in person at the Auditor’s Office

March 7th: Election Day – Polls open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Absentee Ballots must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day
